Sri Lanka is such a wonderful country! Wild beaches, natural parks, ancient ruins and many other attractions are waiting to be discovered by you, curious tourist.
It is a land full of surprises with many natural reserves and many rare and beautiful animals walking around.
A holiday in Sri Lanka should include at least one safari in one of the local reserves, all of them equally beautiful and most important the parks are spread all over the country.
All national parks have two game drives per day: one in the morning and another one in the afternoon. The morning safari starts at 6 a.m. and ends at 9 a.m. and the afternoon safari starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.
Not to wake up very early or to drive a long distance before and after a safari we recommend you to book your accommodation somewhere close to the parks. A good safari Sri Lanka accommodation is exactly what you need after a bumpy and dusty safari.
Top Sri Lanka safari accommodation
Fortunately, around the most popular parks, there are many fancy lodges nest in the middle of the nature offering great services and beautiful rooms. Here are some suggestions:
1. Cinnamon Wild Yala
Cinnamon Wild Yala is located just 5 minutes’ drive from the entrance to Yala National Park. Its amazing chalets offer spectacular views of the jungle or the beach. All the rooms have a private bathroom and AC, cable TV and minibar.
2. Laya Safari
Located only 2 kilometres away from Yala National Park, Laya Safari is a great option when visiting Yala. The resort is 200 meters away from the beach and has large and clean rooms facing the water. Each room has a sleeping area, a separate living room and a balcony facing the beach. There is also an outdoor pool where you can relax after a tiring safari and enjoy the sunset while sipping a cocktail.
3. Kalu’s Hideaway Udawalawe
One of the most interesting Sri Lanka safari accommodation, Kalu Hideaway Udawalawe offers remote accommodation in 14 rooms nest in a picturesque garden close to Udawalawe National park.
The resort has an outdoor pool, a restaurant and an Ayurveda spa, ideal for a relaxing massage after many hours of stay in the car.
4. Leopard trail camps
Nested in the middle of nature, right near Wilpattu National Park, Leopard Trail Camps is a campsite with tents, all of them having a private bathroom and a superb patio from where you can listen to the jungle sound.
This magnificent accommodation reminds me of Africa’s safari lodged. They have that wild vibe but the conditions offered by these campsites are equally to 5-star hotels.
5. Wild Coast Tented Lodge
One of the most picturesque Sri Lanka safari accommodation, Wild Coast Tented Lodge is adjacent to Yala National Park. It is located exactly where the jungle meets the ocean.
The design of the resort is unique in Sri Lanka. It is built from arched structure fabrics which imitate the shape of the rocks. The main building is built from bamboos wood, while the tents are made from a white material offering a very futuristic image of the place.
Each tent is hidden in the jungle and some of them offer sea view and has an individual pool. Inside the resort, there is also a spa centre and the resort offers you vehicles for rent to explore the nearby area.
These are in my opinion the best accommodations close to the main national parks. All of them are equally beautiful and offer incredible services. Great Sri Lanka safari accommodation to relax after a bumpy safari!
