VinayRam from Redmond, Washington

Loved our time at drake bay getaway. Yens and Patrick are amazing hosts. The resort is in a magical place. The food is amazing, the best ingredients and flavors in Costa Rica. It’s our second time here and we would continue coming here. We always feel rejuvenated after a trip here. Highly recommend checking it out

Elena Bordigoni from New York City

This is a lovely, little resort. Yens and Patrick are doing an amazing job making their guest feel welcome and at home. From the minute they welcomed us on the beach to the time we left, they made sure everything was perfect for us and our daughter. The room was immaculate, the food fantastic and every activity was perfectly organized. We highly recommend Drake Bay Gateway to anyone who loves nature, views, and the sea.

Ali from Arizona
This resort doesn’t make you feel like a client, they make you feel like family. Yens and Patrick go out of their way to make sure that you feel like you are at home during your stay. My now husband (then fiancé) planned our stay just a few weeks before our wedding, and we were SO lucky to be able to sneak into an open room (I DO NOT suggest this method, as they are often booked out). Yens and Patrick assisted us with booking travel from San Jose down to the Osa Peninsula, which made things SUPER convenient while we were busy putting final touches on our wedding.

What guests love at this hotel

  • friendly and well-trained staff
  • tasty food cooked from local products
  • incredible view

Ptit -vivy from Switzerland

The location is magical, it overlooks Uvita and the marine natural park and the view in clear weather is just beautiful. The staff and owners were very caring for us, we had a wonderful honeymoon. There was a bouquet in our room when we arrived and the staff was always smiling and ready to help. Thanks to them we could see two sloths, toucans, monkeys, and cabbages all in the hotel. We highly recommend this property.

Samantha from United States

Rancho Pacifico is a stunning property located on 26 acres in the rain forest overlooking the incredible Whale’s Tail in Uvita. There are many different trees, birds, butterflies, flowers, and other wildlife located right outside of your room. We stayed in the Hermosa Suite and it was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and we had turned down service twice daily. Our room had floor-to-ceiling glass in the bedroom and bathroom so we had amazing views of the beach and rain forest. On two different occasions, we were able to watch capuchin monkeys swing from the trees in front of our room. The staff at RP is exceptional.

Mary-Katelyn from Colorado

My (new) husband and I spent the beginning days of our honeymoon at Rancho Pacifico and we are SO thankful we did. There was not one part of our stay that was less than perfect. From the food, the AWESOME staff (shout out Vianney, Daniela, Andrey, Steven and more), and the absolutely beautiful property- we were impressed from the second we got there to the second we left. Rancho Pacifico really spoiled us and set the bar high for any other resort to even try to come close to this level of perfection. Thank you to the owners, Mark and Marlo, for making our time at Rancho Pacifico an unforgettable honeymoon! We will see you again!

My husband surprised me for my birthday and took me to Tabacon and the experience was nothing short of magical. There are so many thermal pools to choose from and you can easily spend your whole day relaxing in bliss.

Jorge C from United States

Tabacon is one of the best places I have stayed in Costa Rica. It is a bit expensive but we felt it was worth it. The hotel is beautiful and offers beautiful thermal waters. We spent an entire day in the location and did not regret it.

Marinat242021 from New York City

It was my first time visiting Costa Rica and my first stop was Tabacon this place is amazing. Beautiful and clean in the middle of rainforest Little pricey but I believe it’s worth its staff is very nice and helpful drinks and food very good quality and amazing presentation. I would love to go back soon.

Miguel B from United States

Having stayed at more than a dozen Four Seasons, the service never fails to impress me, however, my recent stay at the FS Costa Rica has really blown me away! My mother, sister, and I decided to travel to Costa Rica on a whim and we were extremely impressed by the service! Special shoutouts to Jose and Jacqueline from the front desk for always providing quick solutions to everything, Yuder and Miguel at the beach for being super attentive to our needs at the beach, and Wil at the pool for always providing us with great tips on what to do at Peninsula Papagayo. I will definitely return and encourage anyone looking for a beautiful hotel, stunning nature, and over-the-top service to consider staying here!

Texguy32 from Dallas

Our stay here was excellent in every way. Would highly recommend this for a family vacation with kids of almost any age. High points were the wealth of activities both on the property and nearby and the attentiveness of the staff throughout the resort. Everyone was extremely helpful, remembered our names and preferences, and was just generally engaged in a way you rarely see. For example, the guys at the beach activities booth were eager to get our son out snorkeling, on the paddleboards and kayaks, and at beach games. Waiters at the various restaurants were warm and knew what we preferred without us having to ask. Definitely worth the premium to other alternatives and would come back in an instant.

Heinz from Switzerland

Unfortunately, we only stayed here for two days. The area is fantastic and the golf course is sensational. The staff is extremely attentive and very well-trained. You could well stay here for another day. Also suitable for families with children. There is a great daily program for every taste

A small fitness center, as well as a beautiful spa with a long list of treatments and massages, are available at the resort during your stay in this Costa Rica resort family.

Rachel Huddleston from United States

Very worth getting the reservation at the fiesta resort. The staff is polite and the service is excellent. Elias and Carlos were very professional and attentive. The food was very tasty and every course was better than the last. The plating was also spectacular with the presentation being a feast for the eyes. Highly recommend Macondo.

Paolah from United States

The food was amazing, based on the food I would give this hotel a 5 out of 5. The staff was also amazing; people are so kind, attentive, and friendly. Definitely would recommend it.

Julianne H

An amazing time! We were pleased overall and have absolutely no complaints. Highly recommend it to couples and families alike. The food was amazing, drinks were flowing, and the place was beautiful. We went to the Macarela and had wonderful service by Darcio and Jorge Lemont. We had a wonderful time!

Audrey from United States

Beautiful property. Private beach. Situated on edge of the jungle. Lots of wildlife viewing onsite. Laundry services and a la carte breakfast included.

Ashley from United States

Beautiful location amid the rainforest and beach! The staff and service were excellent! The food was delicious! The room was well maintained and clean with a wonderful view of the ocean and surrounding jungle. We would definitely stay at this resort again and would recommend it to anyone looking to experience the beachside and rainforest! The resort also offers free WiFi that covers the resort grounds and even free WiFi in the vans used for transportation.

DanV1970 from Florida

We had six of us, my wife and I, our three kids ages 18, 17, & 14, and a boyfriend age 19 stay at Arenas Del Mar in July 2021. The resort was amazing. We do a lot of travel and absolutely loved this resort. Its greatest asset was the staff who attended to our every need. In addition to the staff, the property is incredible as it resides in a rainforest that meets with a private beach on the Pacific. Our rooms and beds were comfortable, the breakfasts that come with your room are fantastic, and the animals onsite were very cool to watch. We saw tons of monkeys, a couple of sloths, iguanas, and several rabbit-like creatures (I can’t remember their names). The beaches are very good for surfing, boogie-boarding, body surfing, etc….

7. Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo

Hidden between the tropical hills from Papagayo Peninsula, Andaz Costa Rica Resort is a luxurious jungle retreat perfect for your next getaway.

The décor of the interiors is inspired by nature and you have the impression that you are staying in a treehouse, not in a hotel room.

Because of the impressive dimensions of the property, you can rent a golf cart to get from your room to the restaurant, beach, or other places from the resort.

Bronch007 from Oklahoma

Beautiful property that offers world-class service, an amazing room, and terrific food at all restaurants. They have great pools with fantastic drinks. I also got one of the best massages of my life at the spa. All around the Andaz and the staff gives you a true Pura Vida experience!

Bioteacher67 from Canada

This is the nicest resort we have stayed at, from the personal check-in, the way the staff remembers your name, the hats, flip flops in the room, and sunscreen available at the pools and beach. The beach is smaller and has lots of trees, but this suited me and I loved the natural feel of the beach. It was never crowded and it was easy to get a paddleboard or kayak and a shady lounger. This is a far stretch from the crowded Mexican beaches where everyone is roasting in the sun and drinking themselves to a stupor. This is not a spring break crowd hotel, but perfect for families and couples interested in more. The resort, like the country, is eco-friendly, bamboo straws, 5 stream waste recycling. The staff are amazing and work hard to make it a great experience.

Sonal S from Massachusetts

For my 13 and 15 yo- first real vacation since the pandemic. We felt well taken care of and safe. Masks are worn by staff. Lots of fun activities. Pools were my kids’ favorite. I enjoyed the beach house- preferred the beach elf here over the smaller beach by the hotel. The exploration center was worth a look. Nestor took us for a surfing class on the most exquisite black sand beach by a private beach club that we would not have otherwise had access to- waves were perfect! Ivan taught a killer mixology class! And the barista class was absolutely a must. Learned everything about coffee from a master barista. Andaz was a wonderful getaway!

8. Arenal Kioro Hotel

One of the most beautiful resorts at Costa Rica is Arenal Kioro located right near Arenal Volcano National Park.

The resort has its own private thermal springs and daily free shuttles from the springs to the hotel are available for guests.

International cuisine and seafood specialties can be served at the hotel’s restaurant while from your table can admire the volcano.

The resort has 53 suites and rooms, all having an outstanding view of the volcano or the nearby mountains.

Razzzz from Philadelphia

We had a wonderful stay here. Everything was perfect. The views of the volcano were breathtaking every morning. The rooms are spacious. The grounds are beautiful and the various hot springs were lovely. (The higher you go, the warmer they get.) The staff was very helpful in taking care of excursions and daily activities. Because of Covid, the breakfast was limited but still fine. (We found out the last day that you can order pancakes that were not on the menu.) They will also give you a bagged breakfast to go if you have an early excursion. You can borrow umbrellas from the front desk for the afternoon rain.

Matt from Virginia

My fiancé and I stayed at the Kioro for three nights in July and loved it. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and delicious. We looked forward to going to breakfast each morning.
But hands down the best part of this hotel is its location and its views of the volcano. We woke up every morning and stared at the volcano from our bed. We had to pinch ourselves because we couldn’t believe how great the view was.

Danielle H from Florida

The resort was beautiful with stunning views of the volcano. The room was large with a hot tub in the room. We went to the spa and had one of our best massages ever! The hot springs tubs provided a great relaxing escape. The staff was very attentive. The only downfall was the food. Not a lot of variety for breakfast and our dinner was disappointing with a very tough steak.

9. W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal

One of the most WOW Costa Rica hotels is definitely W Costa Rica, a nice property located across Playa Conchal.

The resort is conveniently located in the Guanacaste area, close to  Liberia Airport, but secluded enough to enjoy your holiday in the middle of nature.

From most of the rooms, you have breathtaking ocean views, while an infinity pool, a beach club, a golf course, and a magnificent spa are the best ways to relax and enjoy your holiday.

Pam K from United States

All the positive reviews are the real deal here! This resort is TOP on my list. I’ve been in hospitality for over 15 years and travel frequently. I’ve even been to CR several times. The resort accommodations, food, and most importantly the staff were by far the best! Both Anna and Gina ensured we had an amazing time! And the entire staff treated us like royalty.
Pools, beautiful beaches (I also live in Florida and am picky on beaches), spas, restaurants, and bars are amazing.
For drinks, we simply asked them to make our drinks of their choice and every time it was amazing. Special shout out to Andres and Charly!!

G W from North Carolina

From the time of check in to check out, my stay was truly awesome! I was made to feel special the entire time with little surprises throughout my stay. The staff were very friendly, helpful and so much fun! Glenda is a gem with the best cheery, infectious personality. Andres will make you have a great time around the pool. The food was awesome especially the baked goods. The fresh croissants, breads and the “to die for” cinnamon rolls were the best I’ve ever had! You must try the baked goods or else you will miss out. Kudos to the baker!!! The hotel was lively, the music was great, covid protocols were adequate, rooms were very clean and the Spectacular view room was just that Spectacular!! I loved everything about it, there’s something for everyone, and I will be back for sure! Pura Vida!

Ken H from California

Great hotel, rooms are nice and whimsical. Various restaurant offerings were interesting. Able to book a lot of stuff via WhatsApp was nice. The hotel is still on partial staff due to covid so have to be a bit more patient. For example, the hotel-related concierge service was overwhelmed and slow to respond. Never fear, Andre at Conchalfun.com took great care of us. They are right by the hotel, took my family on a great jet ski tour around the islands. We spotted turtles, crocs, and fish jumping out of the water. Had so much fun I forgot all our sandals on the jet ski and Kevin was nice enough to come back and drop them off for us. Pura Vida!

10. Hotel Nantipa – A Tico Beach Experience

One of the best resorts at Costa Rica for surfing is definitely the luxurious hotel Nantipa located in the Nicoya Peninsula.

Located between the ocean and the jungle, the 15 suites and bungalows are exactly what you need for an unforgettable surf vacation.

Gisele R from Sao Paolo

Best experience in Costa Rica. Beautiful architecture surrounded by an amazing landscape in a unique beachfront location. Nature seems to take center stage. Impeccable service. Perfect place to relax and unwind. Nantipa has a quiet, private, cool, laid-back atmosphere. The hotel restaurant serves delicious food, especially fish, always fresh. The hotel and restaurant carefully follow the covid protocols (distancing tables, etc), which was very important to us. Can’t wait to go back!

Sarah Z from New York City

Everything is perfect beautiful amazing from the welcome to the beauty of the bedroom breakfast on the beach wonderful people kind never experienced such an amazing service with a hotel!!!
I want to come back asap as this is one of my favorite places in the world you feel happy, comfortable relaxed.
The bed is amazing you sleep like a baby on the balcony the coffee too much stuff to say about this amazing place.

Jenn B from California

e found this hotel through Hyatt’s SLH line that they partner with. The hotel is modern, clean, small, intimate, private, and luxurious. The pool is beautiful, the restaurant is wonderful, the drinks are craft made and spectacular. The beach is gorgeous (there can be strong currants out in front). We had the breakfast included which is delicious at the restaurant. We have been enjoying our stay so much here that we were able to extend our stay by one extra night, we are grateful they could accommodate us. This is my new favorite hotel, I’m seriously obsessed with Nantipa and Santa Teresa. This is truly paradise! I don’t want to leave its a hidden gem

This hotel in Costa Rica has 310 rooms, most of them overlooking the ocean, but all of them are spacious, clean, and extremely well maintained, ideal for romantic getaways.

Stealth667 from New Mexico

This was an exceptionally well-operated resort. The property was clean and well maintained. We had the pleasure of the best suite in the house. Oceanfront one-bedroom suite with a private plunge pool. Definitely recommend you seek out this room if you want the best. Our experience with the JW Guanacaste started well before we arrived. We reached out to the concierge, Anthony, with several questions about COVID testing, transportation, rooms, and activities. He always responded very quickly to our questions. Anthony connected us up with TAM for offsite activities, GO CR Vision for transportation, and a local clinic that did the COVID testing in our room. Perfect and the results were back that evening. The resort was well staffed. We cannot say enough about the personal attention we received from the staff.

Maria from Switzerland

Nice hacienda-style hotel, with an excellent staff that is always willing to help and meet your needs. Good variety of restaurant options inside the hotel. Once you are in the hotel you have access to Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club (5 minutes away by car) which is a very good option for families to spend the day, with a nice pool, a beautiful beach in front and a nice restaurant.

Jennifer from United States

We enjoyed the private beach that you could walk and walk and just see the natural unspoiled beauty of the coast. The buffet at the Mansitta restaurant was so delicious. The staff were all extremely friendly and spoke excellent English. It was a restful and rejuvenating part of our trip. The view from the ocean view room was incredible.

12. Tulemar Resort

Nestled in the middle of the rainforest and spanning over 34 acres, Tulemar Resort is a great option for your holiday close to Manuel Antonio National Park.

Shannon P from New York

There are only great things to say about this property. Loved from head to toe. Stayed at Green Haven and couldn’t ask for more. Our concierge Brian was outstanding. We needed for nothing… he took care of all. Thank you again Brian for making all the arrangements for dinner, taxis, excursions, and more. 100% recommendation for family or friends trip. Also to mention the local restaurants were outstanding.

Ryan M from United States

So far, the best place to stay in Manuel
Antonio. Close to adventures, right in the mist of mother nature, where rainforest and sea meet. Perfect for relaxing nights after days of adventures.
From fun in the seas like parasailing to whitewater rafting, or just a plain walking tour at the National park, this is the place to stay. Beautiful villa, magnificent view, wonderful staff, Orlando is one of the best, he’ll make sure your stay is wonderful and enjoyable.

JaySim from New Orleans

We had an absolutely great time at Tulemar Resort. The casa was amazing: spacious, super clean, beautiful decor, and stunning views. The entire resort is just beautiful with beach views, flowers and plants everywhere, and lots of wildlife from lizards to sloths to monkeys! Jean Carlo was our personal concierge and went above and beyond to get to know us, check on us frequently, and make sure our stay was amazing: from setting up rides, excursions, running out to get things from the store quickly, etc. Just awesome!
The food was fantastic at the restaurants, and I also highly recommend getting a personalized chef to cook in your house for at least 1 night. Emilio and the chef bought fresh ingredients and made some of the best food and drinks we’ve ever had – and then cleaned everything up!

The hotel is beautiful and we were given a suite. The view was lovely looking out over the golf course. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The front desk was very good and booked a shuttle for us for an early morning pick up to the airport. I would stay here again.

Jenny J from United States

My girls and I visited Costa Rica and stayed at this hotel for the 4th of July weekend. The hotel and staff were amazing. The room had a great view. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.
Carlos S. gave us an extraordinary welcome every morning. He made sure to recognize my cousin’s birthday. He remembered our beverage orders every morning. That natural passion fruit juice is amazing. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you all for a great vacation.

Brigette from United States

We always spend our last night in Costa Rica here to be close to the airport. Great hidden gem. Beautiful property and architecture with great amenities (gift shop, restaurant, bar, coffee shop, pools). The front desk was able to provide locations for COVID testing which was extremely helpful. Shuttle to the airport. Updated rooms and gorgeous grounds.

14. Secrets Papagayo Costa Rica

The rooms have a modern design, painted in neutral tones, and most of them overlooking the Papagayo Golf and the ocean.

Around the property there are many wild creatures, so taking a walk might quite a good idea as you might see the howler monkeys just a few steps from the property.

Christina L from Maryland

We went to Secrets Papagayo for our honeymoon and the views and staff were amazing. We had a family emergency that cut our trip short, but Henry and Armando from the spa bar and Portofinos, respectively, went above and beyond while we were there, giving us local drink recommendations and finding ice cream for us after Portofinos and cafe had closed because we mentioned wanting to get some. The two couples massages we had at the resort were some of the best, and I highly recommend the outdoor massage with waves crashing in the background and postcard-like views.

Jerry Jackson from Vancouver

From start to finish the staff at Secrets Papagayo make you feel welcome and at home. The check-in process was easy and no sales pitches. The resort has a built-in bungalow and buildings alongside a hilly terrain. Shuttle buses came frequently and very quickly if you needed a ride. We stayed on the quiet side of the resort in a jungle view room which we really enjoyed. Having quick access to the gym, quiet pool and spa, and just a short walk along the beach to the main restaurants during low tide was easy.

Jennifer W from Georgia

A small community of visitors made for an intimate experience, both with staff and other guests. The Entertainment staff were phenomenal, personal, and knew all of our names! They entertained us w/ games, trivia, rum tasting, karaoke, dancing, and a finale where they flew through the air! The breakfast and lunch buffets were well stocked with many choices and the staff was most attentive.
Water sports were great as was swimming in the warm ocean waters. The rooms were clean and transportation was available for moving from room to restaurant to lobby. The spa and gym were wonderful and morning yoga was a great start to the day!

The hotel has its own private beach, 2 amazing swimming pools, and a great spa with many treatments and therapies available for an extra fee.

The property is perfect for families and kids as it is located in the secluded area of El Jobo Beach and offers many entertainment programs like open-air dance lessons, themed nights for adults, and kids and teens clubs for your children.

Dream las Mareas has everything that you need for the perfect Honeymoon or a getaway with your loved one.
I celebrated my Honeymoon and during my entire trip, I didn’t have to leave the hotel because they have so many activities for each day.
Roberto VIP Services was the best. He took care of our honeymoon from day 1 until the last day making sure all the reservations, spa, restaurants, food, room services were at the top with the best quality and services.

My family and I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. The hotel looks very nice. It has fantastic green areas and trails. It has architectural details of great spatial richness. The vast majority of food is very good. I liked that the food portions on the plate were decent, not over the top. The temperature in the buffet is very low so there is a thermal shock between the outside and inside. Otherwise, I recommend enjoying a vacation at Dreams Las Mareas.

Shellvanderwal from Washington

Fun, beautiful ocean and beach, so many trees, monkeys swinging and playing, multiple pools, lots of food, drinks of all kinds at all bars, top-shelf liquor for the preferred club(just ask), amazing property, lots of wonderful workers, rooms were not our favorite, little to no privacy between the bathroom and living/sleeping area, but the walkout to the water from our patio was the best part of the room. Get a walkout facing the beach and pool area. Where we were was quiet and the room service was available 24/7, it’s all included; Food, Beverages, Non-motorized water sports, friendly service, all the restaurants, entertainment daily, pool and beach activities, so much to choose from. Grab a pool chair at the lower pool by the beach and relax, you won’t regret it!
