Hotel Makanda is paradise because of the hard-working people who are employed there. Every single person goes above and beyond, and they make you feel like you are the only one at this gorgeous hotel.
Monkeys came and visited us on our deck in the WOW suite, and one even had a cute little temper tantrum when we wouldn’t let him into our hotel room! You can also be driven by a golf cart halfway up to your room, but there is no way you should stay in our magical room if you have mobility issues. No worries, there are other rooms near the saltwater pool that seem incredible for monkey and sloth watching, it’s easy to get to those rooms.
The food is incredible at this hotel. Whether it’s breakfast or dinner, you will enjoy all that they offer at Arbol. We are vegan, and we had no problem getting some incredible meals at this gorgeous resort.

My wife and I had a fantastic time, the grounds are beautiful and very safe. We have traveled extensively the last few years and I would say the staff at the Westin is by far the best we have interacted with.
The beach is just steps away from the resort. We stayed in the Royal Beach Club accommodations and highly recommend it. The pool for the Royal Beach Club was quiet, very few people were using it. The swim-up bar staff did a great job.
Poured anything we wanted and mixed them well. If you are considering going on any excursions look for Andrei with Conchal Fun.
(No blue shirt) We just wanted to relax and take it easy on this trip and Andrei personalized our quick trips off the property. He was not pushy at all and personally saw to it that we were happy. Highly recommend his services.

One of the best hotels that I have stayed at from check-in with Aaron to dining in the restaurants, facilities, and the staff was over the top accommodating and friendly! We also found a tour service–Conchal Fun that was super easy, great value for your $$ and accommodating.
Andre responded to my initial message within 10 minutes prior to travel and continued to offer experiences during the entire trip. We did Jet Skiing off of the beach, the private sunset tour, mega fun combo (zip-lining, mud bath, hot springs, horseback riding, water slide, and transportation).
Our absolute favorite though was a day trip to Nicaragua! They facilitated the transportation, safe/fast border crossing, and a full tour of the country to include an active volcano! Would highly recommend this hotel and Conchal Fun!

Three couples stayed for one week. Truly amazing property and staff. We dined at all of the restaurants and everyone agreed that the food and service were wonderful. The resort sits on a rather steep hillside with two beautiful beaches.
Read some negative reviews on food quality and have to wonder if those folks stayed at the same resort. Also, because it sits on a steep hillside the walks can be a bit challenging but what better exercise when you are staying on an all-inclusive!
Didn’t have to hit the gym once, just walk around the resort for 45 minutes and you will get a heck of a workout. If workouts and not for you, they do run shuttles constantly 24/7.
We are UVC members and are big fans of the Secrets brand but have to say Papagayo exceeded all of our expectations.

This is a beautiful spot for a romantic getaway. It’s quiet and secluded with beautiful views. The king bed was very comfortable (and this isn’t something I say often when travelling), the place was very clean and smelt amazing, and the staff was very friendly.
The private plunge pool was so nice to have with the hot weather, especially after surfing or adventuring out, it was lovely to come home to our peaceful villa.
It’s nice and close to the surf and Santa Teresa, but I’d recommend getting an ATV if you want to explore. Highly recommend Casa Chameleon Mal Pais for a couple’s getaway.

I was able to work while sitting in the bar area with an ocean view; ocean chairs, lounge chairs, and umbrellas facing the sea for guests, lovely pool grounds, restaurant has a little manmade stream running through it that is alive with huge tutles and fish, I saw sloths on the hotel grounds, and there is an incredible, friendly staff! The on-site restaurant called The Papaya is open for lunch and dinner on a daily basis and most of the products used for cooking your meal come from local farms.
At Hotel Aguas Claras, there are suites and bungalows and a private villa that can accommodate up to 10 persons.
The suites are located in the so-called Pavlova Sweets building. It is a Victorian Row House located right near the restaurant and the pool.
Each suite has a minibar, a small living room table, an open-air shower, a semi-open terrace, a sofa, and a desk.
The bungalows are decorated with recycled wood furniture and are nestled in the middle of the dense forest.
The 5-bed-room villa is split into 2 floors and is the largest building on the property. It can accommodate up to 10 people.
There is no spa or fitness center at the property but there are plenty of other interesting outdoor activities to do during your stay.
You should spend your morning at the pool, eat a delicious lunch at Papaya restaurant and then head up to the beach for a wonderful afternoon.

This hotel is one of my absolute favorite places I’ve ever stayed. The hotel is set close to the beach with the most beautiful grounds and buildings. The decor is to die for. We stayed in the Kua Kua bungalow and loved the outdoor shower.
Not only is the hotel nice but the staff is also fantastic. They are super helpful above and beyond! Luis was so friendly and knew so much about the local wildlife, he even took us out looking for frogs. Private yoga session and massage were also a highlight.

The check in was simple. Parking to our room was probably 30 steps. Very convenient. I liked that it was a smaller hotel and very few rooms.
The pool and patio area had a great view of the bay. I’m a photographer and had my tripod and camera set up our balcony.
I captured Fiery billed aracari, chestnut-mandibled toucan, macaw, parakeets, and monkeys all from our balcony.
A couple at pretty close range. We always had great service and thought the food was very good. It was a little walk down to the beach but not difficult if you are any kind of shape.
The beach that you could access was stunning and very few people when we visited. I would visit again if we were ever in the area. The drive to Manuel Antonio was about 10 minutes

This resort was about an hour and a half away from the airport which wasn’t ideal after a long flight but we knew what we signed up for. Once at the resort, we were greeted by staff who welcomed us with champagne, held our bags, and led us to the concierge area.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to check in right away, but they held our bags and we went for food. The food overall was very good. We actually loved the buffet and the tacos at El Patio were incredible. The staff was extremely friendly the entire trip.
They were never pushy about anything and very genuine. The room was clean every day, nice letters from the staff were there and everything about the room was spacious and gorgeous. It even had a tub on the balcony!
The pools were beautiful, the beach was private for the most part and we really enjoyed our stay. We will be back here one day!
