Weather in Liberia, Costa Rica: Best Time to Visit

Weather for Liberia Costa Rica is characterized by a pretty stable temperature and good chances of precipitation for about half of the year.

In general, the weather for Costa Rica is quite hot, a climate-specific for an equatorial country with high temperatures on the lowlands and milder in the central valley and high lands.

The temperatures are quite constant all year round, the only difference between the months and seasons is the quantity of rain that drops.

Spring – from March to May

The temperatures and the humidity of the air make this season a very warm time of the year.

On the coastal area and lowlands, the maximum temperatures in Costa Rica Liberia go up to 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit), while on the highlands and the volcanoes area it can go down to 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit).

Summer – from June to August

June to August is considered to be the low season in Liberia Costa Rica, with low prices, many sunny days, and warm weather.

The average number of rainy days is between 9 to 11 days and most of the rains occur in the afternoon.

Autumn – from September to November

Autumn comes with windy and rainy days and high humidity in the area, so the days will be quite hot and hard to bear.

This is not a good time to visit Costa Rica because of the heavy rains that fall all across the country except for the Caribbean Coast where the days are sunny and warm.

Winter – from December to February

The peak season or the dry season lasts from December to April, so the whole winter comes with high temperatures, above 32 degrees Celsius (89 degrees Fahrenheit) and no rain.

April in Liberia

April is still hot and humid (the humidity is around 62%) perfect for visiting Costa Rica, although because of the Catholic Eastern it is quite a crowded period.

The temperatures are between 25 to 35 degrees Celsius (77 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit), but the cooling breeze of the Pacific makes the temperatures more bearable.

May in Liberia

May is the first month of the rainy season but there are still a few days with sun and high temperatures, so there is nothing to worry about.

More than that, the prices drop significantly and the crowds are gone, so you have more of this country for yourself.

The humidity is at 72%, while the number of rainy days from the whole month is around 15, most of the raindrops are just afternoon showers.

June in Liberia

Although extremely humid and with many days of short showers and rain, June is still a hot month with temperatures of 29 degrees Celsius (86 degrees F).

July is the second month of summer so it comes with high temperatures, high humidity, and rainy days.

There are around 22 days with rain during the whole month and in the second part of July is the so-called “small summer”, a short period with no rain, exactly like in the dry season.

August weather in Liberia

With more than 12.5 hours of light and temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), August is a good time to visit Costa Rica if you don’t have a problem with the rain.

There are on average around 23 days with short showers and occasional thunderstorms all over the month, so you might reconsider your trip dates if you don’t want to get wet.

September and October weather in Liberia

September and October are by far the rainiest days of the whole year, with an average of 27 days with rain.

The level of humidity is quite high (around 86%), while the maximum temperatures go up to 30 degrees Celsius ( 86 degrees Fahrenheit).

November weather

November is the last month of the rainy season so expect many sunny days, especially in the second half of the month.

The humidity index is still very high, but the heavy rains are gone and the sun is shining again over the lush forest.

December weather in Liberia

December comes with scattered rains and short showers in the first part of the month, but good weather and sunny days around Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
