What is glamping in Tx all about?

Some people say that “G” in glamping comes from the word glamour.

This is because glamping facilities offer comfortable beds and a lot of other luxuries, even though you are camping in the middle of nature.

Glamping allows you to enjoy the wilderness of a place without skipping comfort or giving up your evening routine.

The only way to go deep into the wilderness is by camping.

You can watch the stars and stay by a campfire in the middle of nowhere.

But you’re only a few steps away from having all the comfort you need for a good night’s sleep.

More and more people are interested in glamping, so it is a good idea to book your spot at a glamping resort in Texas ahead of time.

Some of these glamping sites are located near Texas towns, while others are further away.

But all of them will make you feel relaxed and reconnected with nature.

No matter if we are talking about tents, yurt, treehouses, teepees, and even cabins, as long as they are located in the heart of the wilderness, they can be called glamping.

In other words, any structure can be turned into a glamping spot as long as it is unique, different than others, and located in the heart of nature.

Finding them might be quite challenging and time-consuming but I put together a list of the most beautiful glamping from Texas to be easier for you to pick your favorite one and spend a wonderful vacation with your beloved ones.

Best places for glamping in Texas

1. Geronimo Creek Retreat

With three types of accommodation: treehouse cabins, getaway cabins, and teepees, Geronimo Creek Retreat is the perfect place to hide, far from city noise and pollution.

The treehouse cabins are my favorite. They remind me of when I was a kid and I spent most of my time in the treehouse in my grandparent’s yard.

These glamping cabins are located in Seguin, about 20 km away from New Braunfels and 50 km away from San Antonio airport.

All the treehouses have a fully equipped kitchen, a private bathroom with hot water, and a shower or bathtub.

These houses can hold up to 8 people. There is a place to cook food outside and a place to sit and watch the sky at night.

This place in Texas has a little under 4 acres. It is next to Geronimo Creek, so you can swim or fish there.

You can also build a fire in the evening.

Gypsytraveler from New York

A hidden gem nestled in rural Texas. The accommodations and amenities surpassed expectations and made for a very comfortable stay (i.e., kitchen nook, appliances, and a fully-operating living quarter in your accommodation). Guests are left to their own devices, which creates memorable experiences. Guests have their individual grills on which to cook and roast s’mores, and seating areas designated to their specific parties. Of course, there is an awesome game room and hot tub, among other activities. Kudos to the team member (Keith?, as I forget names) who answered my request immediately about shooing away a raccoon near the accommodation in the middle of the night. A full endorsement of and high recommendation for this versatile resort.

2. FlopHouze Shipping Container Hotel

Marry from Dallas, Texas

My experience at Flophouze is exactly as it is advertised; the perfect combination of luxury and “The Wild”. The shipping containers (which are your own personal hotel suite) open up onto this huge wide-open cow pasture, making for unbelievable sunrises and sunsets— the doors are completely glass, floor to ceiling. The inside of the shipping containers are extremely comfortable and beautifully apportioned; lots of nice little details like a record player with vinyl for you to enjoy! Your own coffee grinder! Very, very cool. Super comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, all the other things you would expect in a high quality experience, but the rural landscape makes it all the more special. You can step outside of your little apartment and hear nothing but the wind. I just spent two days there in the beginning of the year and I’m so glad I did. Need a weekend away? This is the place.

What a great opportunity to do something different away from the hustle and bustle!!! So much to do in the surrounding area if you choose to do so.

The tents walk the line of camping and a nice hotel room. The team and the service they provide are impeccable! Chef Alex, Lacey, Dustin, Heather, and Chef Daniel (who is actually the chef at their Vail location that is opening soon) provide the best food and conversation. We had the 6-course meal and the S’mores and they were delicious. Breakfast didn’t disappoint either.

But of all things – THE VIEW, the stillness, and waking up to the sounds of nature every morning was unbearable.

5. Vineyard Trail Cottages

I’m almost hesitant to write this review for selfish reasons!! What a quaint group of cottages, located near one of my favorite vineyards. Very secure, with an awesome sitting area to hang out in the evening to enjoy the bottles of wine you bought during your tastings. Our cottage was very clean and had a lot of amenities. Would definitely stay there again, and again!

What guests say

Cassandra F from US

Being less than an hour and a half drive from DFW Airport, Bay Landing offers affordable “old-fashioned fun” for a quick getaway or lengthy stay. They have tent sites, full camper hookups and cabins with kitchens so no matter your experience level, they have a spot for you!

The staff is very friendly and happy to see the kids enjoying themselves SO MUCH. My kids love checking the activities calendar to see what they have to look forward to each day. The ladies of Bay Landing organized a ping-pong tournament and tie-dying for t-shirts and Candy Bar BINGO which was awesome!

I very much appreciate that the campground is large so I don’t feel like I’m on top of my neighbors. With that, bicycles are KEY for this trip. Since things are spread out, bikes are the perfect mode of transportation within the park, giving everyone the freedom to explore and participate (bring your own or rent from them).

The new addition of Buster’s Café was a surprising treat, make sure to grab a burger or catfish plate while you’re there. We can’t say enough good things about BAY LANDING.

Note: I’m writing this review after our 3rd visit to Bay Landing in less than 12 months.

Trip 1 (April-Camper): It was cold and rainy on this trip, but we had a great time riding bikes, fishing, and playing cards.

Trip 2 (August-Cabin): Temps were hot, and we got to enjoy the lake a lot, swimming, fishing, and boating. There is lots of grassy space within the campground so we played washers, threw footballs, and enjoyed the outdoors.

Trip 3 (March-Tent): Weather was perfect but the lake was still a bit cold. We spent the majority of our time around the Activities Center meeting lots of other people while playing Bingo, Ping-Pong, Basketball, Pickleball, spinning on the merry-go-round, and swimming in the pool.
