Carturesti carusel Bookstore in Bucharest old Town
This place is also known as “Centrul Vechi” which translates as “Old Center”, Bucharest’s Old Town is definitely a place to include in your itinerary when you visit Bucharest.
The area is full of old buildings left of pre World War II Bucharest, aligned on each side of the narrow streets you can walk by foot. What the war did not destroy in the early part of 1944, communism did with the grandiose Civic Centre project, that destroyed most of the area to make way for Bulevardul Unirii and Casa Poporului.
Withing the streets of Bucharest old Town lies a hidden gem not mentioned in any of the Bucharest guides, which is one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world: Carturesti Carusel Bookstore.
Carturesti Carusel is the perfect place for Instagrammers
As you would probably guess by now, Carturesti Carusel is the Instagram perfect place, being a haven for Instagrammers. Professional photographers book space with weeks in advance for a photo session.
We saw this beautiful bookstore so many times on Instagram, it just kept showing over and over and we just fell in love with this beauty library. When we decided to visit Bucharest we pinned this on top of our list of Instagrammable places to visit in Bucharest.
We were anxious to visit it and convince ourselves that it really looks as beautiful as the photos we saw on Instagram and to be honest we were a little sceptic.
It is located just in the old town, in the city centre and it is just surrounded by old building some of them being under renovation.
Here you can witness endless parades of aspiring models with beautiful long dresses who stand in beautiful and dramatic poses while they are being photographed by their adoring boyfriends or husbands to get that perfect shot for Instagram.
You don’t have to take my word for it, but nowadays this is how most people document their travel, so you should consider my suggestion to go there and see it with your own eyes, and I bet you will not resist without taking at least one photo inside Carturesti Carusel the most beautiful bookstore in the World.
Do you like READING Books ?
Pick your favourite book from the shelves and you can start reading it inside the library as there are many chairs and comfortable places inside to choose from. If you wish to grab a quick bite while reading or sip from a glass of wine while reading your favourite book you can do that as well on the top floor in the Bistro Carusel.

As most bookstores do, Carturesti also sells novelty items like agendas, pens, Romanian souvenirs, notebooks, handbags, sweets (tea, coffee, chocolate, jam, etc.), and more.
We only got a book, a magnet and a small Moleskine notebook.
