Sicily is the largest island from the Mediterranean sea and one of the 20 provinces which form Italy.
It is located in the southern part of the country, being connected with the Italian mainland by the Strait of Messina.
The island has many attractions spread all over the land. Beautiful villages, vibrant cities, untamed nature, are just some of the things you can visit when in Sicily.

Let’s not forget about Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe. It is located in Enna province and is one of the top attractions of the island!
But besides these interesting things, there are also beaches! A beautiful island like Sicily certainly has some amazing beaches!
Sicily best beaches
We visit many of them and we made you a top with the best beaches from the island:
1. San Vito lo Capo
Located in the western part of the island, this long strip of golden sand is one of Sicily best beaches.
It has a very exotic air and wonderful scenery with the mountains on one sight and the turquoise waters on the other side.
It is a mix of African and Arabic cultures and influences around this strip of sand! Here you will hear more often ordering for couscous than for pasta!
It is definitely a unique place from Sicily and one of the best places to go for a swim from the entire island!
You can reach this wonderful strip of sand only with a car or a taxi. We definitely advise you to book a car and explore the rest of the beaches from the island!

Taxis are pretty expensive and you cannot take one and explore the whole island because it will cost you a fortune! But a rented car gives you this opportunity!
Where to sleep: Smy Hotel La Tonnara Di Bonagia Sicily is our choice for San Vito lo Capo beach. The hotel is located 15 minutes away from the beach in an ancient tuna fishery from the 17th century.
The place was refurbished and all the interior designs were made by experts!
The rooms are big and modern and offer amazing views over the Baia di Cofano.
2. Cefalu
Cefalu is for sure one of Sicily best beaches for families! It is located in the northern part of the island, in Palermo province.
So, if you visit this beautiful strip of sand, be prepared to meet a lot of families with children who come here to relax and enjoy the Sicilian sun.
May and September are the best months to visit Cefalu beach because there are not that many tourists and families around.
The beach has all the facilities you need for a perfect day near the sea! You can rent sun chairs, umbrellas and even go to a restaurant and have lunch.
Where to sleep: Le Calette N5 Cefalu is our choice for Cefalu. It is a wonderful 5 stars hotel just 5 minutes drive from Cefalu main attractions.
The resort has a private beach, a beautiful outdoor pool and a nice restaurant where you can serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The rooms have a very simple and elegant design, some of them overlooking the sea.
3. Lido Fiori
One of Sicily best beaches for children awarded with the Blue Flag is Lido Fiori. This strip of sand is located close to Menfi, right near Selinunte.
The place is famous for its shallow and clean waters, sandy beach with no rocks around.
It is a very crowded place especially during summer months because of its scenery and calm waters.
May and September are the best months to visit this strip of sand when most of the tourists are gone and you can enjoy the scenery better.
Where to sleep: La Foresteria Planetaestate Lido Fiori is one of the best accommodations you can find in the area. The resort is located in the middle of a vineyard close to an amazing beach.
Down on the beach, you have your own private part of the beach where to lay down and relax.
There is also an outdoor pool and a garden with aromatic plants, a wellness centre and a fitness centre.
Oil and wine courses, as well as cooking classes, can be booked at resort reception.
4. Sampieri
You may not hear about this beach but exactly this unpopularity is what makes this place so interesting! It is a long strip of sand with just a few tourists, a great way to spend your day on the beach.
Sampieri is perfect not just for couples and younger but also for families with kids.
You and your family will have enough space to play and roam around!
Bring with you a tower and an umbrella because there are not many facilities around.
You might find sun chairs and umbrellas, but just to be sure, bring with you a towel and some water!
The beach is accessible by foot from Modica and Ragusa town!
Where to sleep: Modica Palace Hotel is our suggestion for your stay near Sampieri beach.
It is a 4 stars hotel 5 minutes drive from Modica city centre and 10 minutes drive from the beach.
5. Calamosche
This is one of Sicily best beaches if you are looking for a place still untouched by tourism. It is a small strip of golden sand located in a protected area known as the Reserve of Vendicari.
The waters are clear and shallow, making from this place a great destination for those interested in snorkelling.
The beach is delimited on both parts by rocky cliffs forming a huge outdoor swimming pool.
A few years ago Calamosche beach was awarded by a local magazine as “the most beautiful beach of Italy”.
The beach can be accessed only by car and on foot; there is no public transport in the area.
Bring with you a towel and a sun umbrella, because you will not find anything on the beach.
If I remember correctly, there is a small restaurant near the beach but nothing else.
Where to sleep: Gagliardi Boutique Hotel Vendicari Nat Rez is a beautiful hotel located very close to the centre of Noto and just 12 kilometres away from Vendicari National Reserve.
The rooms are clean and spacious and a delicious buffet breakfast can be served each morning at the hotel’s restaurant.
These are the 5 Sicily best beaches! Some of them are more crowded but with all the facilities you need, while others are more hidden from the tourists’ eyes.
