Shoulder season is my favourite time to visit a place because the prices are still low, the number of tourists is more than reasonable and the weather is great!
In May the weather is warm enough to spend long hours at the beach, perfect for sightseeing and exploring the island!

During most of the days, there is a cool breeze flying over the beaches but it is nothing to bother you.
On the contrary, it is exactly what you need to cool off and stay more hours on the beach!
Very early in the morning and late in the evening you might need a sweater but I don’t consider this to be an inconvenience!

The average temperatures are around 20 degrees celsius but sometimes it can go up to 25 or even 27 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperatures might drop to 16 or 18 degrees Celsius during the night but as I said, a sweater solves the problem!

If you are expecting to find a warm sea, well I must tell you that the water temperature is somewhere around 19 or 20 degrees Celsius.
Still, this is not an excuse not to take a bath!
You might not spend hours in the sea, but a short bath in the Mediterranean Sea you could do!
As regarding the raindrops, there are estimated a maximum of 4 days of rain during this time of the year!

Weather in Kiotari Rhodes in May is pretty mild but mornings and evenings might be a little cold so you’d better bring with you a sweater if you plan to stay out for long.
The average daily temperature is around 22 degrees Celsius while in the evening the temperature drops to 18 degrees Celsius.
Weather in Kalithea Rhodes in May
The average temperature in Kalithea in May is around 20 degrees Celsius and there are 11 hours of sunshine each day.
May is a dry month with an average of 14 mm rain, so you should not expect to more than 3 or 4 days of rain during the whole month.
During the evenings and early mornings, the weather is colder so we recommend you to wear jeans and a warm jacket.
Our experience in Rhodes in May
We visited Rhodes for 7 wonderful days in May and the weather was perfect! All the days were sunny with no rain!
Maybe a little bit chilly in the evening when we came from dinner but we still could stay on our patio and listen to the sound of the sea.

We like this month of the year because the summer season is not considered to be open yet and the tourists are still far away at their homes, the prices are still reasonable and it is a good time to explore the area.
We choose to spend our holiday at Sentido Port, an adults-only hotel located 25 kilometres away from Rhodes town and 25 kilometres away from Lindos.
The services, the food, everything about this hotel and our stay here was just great!
It is a very classy 5-star hotel with decent prices located right on the beach!
A very good choice if you are looking for a quiet hotel where to relax and enjoy your holiday!
Spread across the island there are many ancient sites and interesting places to explore!
The ruins of the ancient cities near Lindos or Rhodes, as well as the Butterfly Valley or the picturesque city of Lindos, are just some of the places which are worth visiting when visit Rhodes.
You can reach these sites by car or by taxi! But I personally advise you to rent a car if you plan to explore the island and not just lay in the sun!

Don’t worry to drive by yourself in Rhodes because it is not a dangerous island at all!
