How many of you think about waking up in Paris and drinking their tea in London United Kingdom? Sounds amazing, right?!
Well, this is possible in our days! It is a dream which might come true if you want!
No matter if you choose to travel by train or by plane, in a few hours you can get from one city to another.
With Eurostar, a fast speed train which travels beneath the sea throughout the English Channel in less than 2 hours and a half you reach your destination.
The main advantage of travelling by train is that the railway stations in both countries are located in the city centre and you don’t have to waste precious time to get from the city centre to the train.
Things are not the same when we speak about airports.
All the airports are located outside the city so when you do your computations about how much time you spend travelling by train you have to add the time waste moving around, from your hotel to the airport and from the airport to the city centre.
Travel without worries during COVID-19
At first sight, a plane seems to be the best option to travel from one city to another.
You know why? Because London to Paris flight time is just one hour and 10 minutes maximum of 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on the aircraft.
But like I said earlier, to the flight time from the above you have to add the time spent on the road to get to and from the airport plus the fact that you have to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before the plane departs.
The great news is that the connections between these two cities are really good!
There are about 11 flights from London to Paris and 11 planes which take you back from Paris to London and the flight duration is about one hour.
And here I am speaking about direct connections operated by major airlines like Air France and British Airways!
And now let me tell you a few words about the airports!
Paris’ main gate to the world is Charles de Gaulle airport.
This is the largest airport from Paris airports France and the second largest from Europe. It is located in Roissy-en-France, 23 km northeast of Paris.
To get from the airport to Paris city centre you can take the taxi, the metro and the bus.
In about 45 minutes you reach the city centre by metro, which is the fastest of all.
The second airport near Paris is Orly and is commonly used by low-cost companies and domestic flights.
The airport is located 13 kilometres south of Paris. This airport does not have a direct connection with the Paris centre which means more time spent on the road.
On the other hand, near London, there are 6 international airports and some smaller ones.
The most important hubs are London City airports, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Luton, Southend and Stansted.
The closest airport from London city centre is Heathrow, which distances from London is just 26 kilometres.
Heathrow is also the largest airport from England and one of the busiest airports in the world.
This airport is connected to London city centre by train. In about 30 minutes you reach the city centre from the airport.
The other 5 airports are located at a higher distance from the city centre, which means more time needed to get to the city.
The plane might look a great choice for travelling from one place to another, but to London to Paris flight time you have to add the time spent on the road to reach the airport and the city centre, plus the fact that you have to be at the airport 90 minutes prior to the departure time.
On the other hand, the train takes you around 2 and a half hour to go from Paris to London, and there is no time spent on the road to reach the city centre because the train station is right in the heart of the city.
I know it might sound strange, but use the train to travel between these two cities! It is comfortable, faster and more convenient!
