Bucharest

Bucharest is the capital of the country. It is located in the south part of Romania, is very easy to reach because of its international airport. Casa Poporului ( The People’s House), Old Center, Cismigiu Park or museums are some of the things to see in Bucharest.

You need about 3 or 4 days to visit Romania’s capital, one of the iconic cities of Romania.

From Bucharest, you can rent a car or take the train and visit Brasov.

Brasov – perfect city for holidays IN Romania

Brasov is a nice city located right near the Carpathian mountains, an interesting destination for holidays in Romania. It is surrounded by mountains and is a good spot for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities.

Sibiu

Sibiu is 4 hours drive from Bucharest or 2 and a half hours drive from Brasov.  Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture in 2007 and in 2019 is Europe’s gastronomy capital in Romania. It is one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Romania with many places to visit and picturesque landscapes.

Cluj Napoca

Located in the heart of Transylvania, Cluj Napoca is an important IT hub from Balkan Peninsula Region. The city is a charming destination to spend your holidays in Romania.

It is close to the Carpathian Mountains with beautiful landscapes and wild nature. Turda Gorges (Cheile Turzii) or Tarnita lake are good ideas for day trips from Cluj. Botanic Garden, King Matthias Corvin Statue and St Michael’s Church are other must things to see while in Cluj. All these spots are conveniently located in the center of the city and are very accessible by bus.

Timisoara

Timisoara is a modern city located right near the Hungarian border. It is pretty far from other iconic cities in Romania so the car is not necessary a good option for traveling there. I would recommend you to take the airplane from Bucharest or Cluj if you want to visit this place.

The center of the city and Banat Village Museum are representative for Timisoara. From this town started the Revolution in 1989 when communism was defeated and democracy was born. Yes, it is a place with high historical significance for Romania! It worth visiting it in your holidays in Romania.

Iasi

Iasi is located very far from Timisoara and other Romania’s main cities. There are almost 10 hours drive between Timisoara to Iasi. Why? Well, Timisoara in the west and Iasi is located in the east side of Romania, close to the border with Moldavia.
