There are direct trains from Milano Centrale to Como town.

In about 40 minutes to one hour, you reach the waterhole from Milan.

The main downside if you travel by train is that the railway line is not very developed around the water.

To get to most of the villages and resorts spread around the water you need to take the bus or the ferry from the town.

In Milan there are three major railway stations from where you can reach the main town from the lake:

  • Milano Nord Cadonia
  • Milano Centrale

Most Milan to Lake Como train are direct trains and you don’t have to worry about anything; you just hop on the train and get off when you reach the lake.

The train station from Como town is called San Giovanni and is located just 10 minutes walk from the lake.

The first train leaves from Milan to Lago di Como at 5.46 in the morning and the last train departs at 11.16 in the evening.
