Review: Safari Danube Delta Enisala Holiday Village

When we booked our stay at Safari Danube Delta Enisala we were looking for an accommodation located close to Danube Delta but on the mainland.

As we had never been to Danube Delta we were not sure if we would like to stay somewhere remote, in a place accessible only by boat.

What we liked to this location is that we could combine channel tours with mainland exploration.

Location

The accommodation is located in Enisala, Tulcea in Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. It is on mainland so is accessible by car. It took you three and a half hours from Bucharest to get to Enisala.

The closest airport is Mihail Kogalniceanu from Constanta at about 100 km away.

All the buildings are made in the traditional architecture with local materials. The rooms have very thick walls, specific for traditional houses and all are covered with reed. You don’t need AC in your room as it is much more cooler than outside.

Safari Enisala Danube Delta review of the holiday village

The holiday village is crossed by a local road. All the rooms are build in the middle of a nice lavandera, on the other side of a road, separate from the restaurant and relaxing area. The smell from the rooms is very nice thanks to lavenders.

Don’t expect to modern rooms! All of them are very basic! There is only the bed and few shelves. No TV, no modern technology. The bathroom is also very small with a small shower and a tiny sink.

Regarding the cleaning from the rooms, I would say that it could be better!

Facilities

Safari Danube Delta Enisala has only a restaurant build in a traditional way and a wine cellar build in turkish traditional architecture.

There is no pool, no spa, just a relaxing area behind the restaurant. From that patio you can see the Razim lake and admire the landscape.

It is a very peaceful experience! After few days spend at this resort, I felt totally relaxed and connected with nature!

“Cosy ambience, very authentic food like in a family’s home, very friendly and welcoming personnel”

Breakfast

The breakfast was very basic and the same each day. As there are no restaurants in the area, you are somehow forced to take the full board package.

We were not very satisfied with the food we received at Safari Danube Delta Enisala. You cannot choose what to eat. Maximum, if you are lucky, you are asked for what you want to eat the next day. The dishes based on fish were very tasty, but we received fish in just one day out of three.

On the other two days we received pork, chicken and potatoes. When we received chicken for example, from one chicken were cooked the soup and also the main course. If they prepare something for you and you did not eat all, in the next day or in the evening you will receive the leftovers.

To be honest, I felt somehow that they are trying to offer cheap food at pretty high prices! The drinks are not included in the price! You pay what you drink at extra price! We are still on mainland, so the prices for food and especially for drinks are a little too high!

If you are looking for modern rooms and high level of amenities, then you should book your rooms on other places. Here you should stay only if you are willing to experience the traditional way of leaving.
