Bulgaria beaches Black Sea

It is cheap! It is beautiful! It is one of the best places to spend your summer holiday close to Europe! Peoples are extremely friendly and helpful and the food is absolutely delicious! What else you can ask for?!

You don’t have any clue what I am talking about?! Well, I am talking about Bulgarian beaches and how amazing they are!

Bulgaria has hundreds of beaches, some of them very popular and crowded, famous all over the world and other wild and untamed known only by locals.

No matter which type of beach you like most, here, in Bulgaria you will find some beaches perfect for your holiday!

If I would have to make a top with the best strips of sand from Bulgaria, where I would like to spend my holiday or just a weekend, I would say:

1. Sunny Beach area

One of the most popular resorts from the Bulgarian Black Sea is by far Sunny Beach. It is located close to Nessebar on the southern part of the Bulgarian coast.

Sunny beach is a very cosmopolitan resort with many all-inclusive hotels, a huge, sandy beach and shallow waters, perfect for swimming and relaxation. Here you can find one of the largest strips of sand from Bulgaria, with a total length of about 15 kilometres.

It is one of the very few resorts which have blue flag certificated beach, a big plus for the resort because it attracts tourists like a magnet.

So, you don’t have to worry about the conditions from the beach: it is clean, well maintained and properly organised!

We spent our holiday at Riu Palace Sunny Beach and we were very happy with our decision. The hotel is located right near the beach, it has a wonderful outdoor pool, a fitness centre and a spa. The rooms are clean and very well maintained and some of them have sea view.

2. Golden Sands area

Located on the northern part of the Bulgarian coast, Golden Sands is a very popular destination for families and couples.

The resort is located just 20 kilometres away from Varna, a large Bulgarian city located right on the Black Sea coast.

As the name suggested the beach is a beautiful golden sandy strip of land, one of the best from the country.

Tourists from all over Europe come here to spend their summer holiday. There are plenty of all-inclusive resorts, some of them are kids friendly, with outdoor pools, tasty food and great locations.

If Sunny Beach is preferred by young couples and those looking for an active nightlife, Golden Sands is more suitable for families and those looking for a calm atmosphere.

3. Irakli

One of the last wild Bulgaria beaches Black Sea is Irakli. It is the perfect getaway for those looking for wild and virgin beaches. This beach is suitable for young couples and for nudists.

There are no facilities around the area so bring with you everything you need.

You can set your camp in the area as there are no hotels and other places to sleep.

4. Salt Pans Beach

A very popular place among locals and almost unknown by tourists is Salt Pans Beach. It is located just 10 kilometres away from Burgas and is accessible only by car.

It is a completely unique place from Bulgaria because of the black sand and pink lake, Atanasovsko Lake.

In my opinion, the flavour of the place is given by this lake which has a pinkish colour because of the microorganisms which live inside the lake.

Salt Pans is the ideal destination for watersports lovers, being a perfect place for kitesurfing.

Where to sleep: There are no accommodations in the area. The closest hotels are in Burgas. A wonderful choice is Avenue Hotel Salt Pans which offers large rooms, comfy beds and good breakfast.

5. Tyulenovo beach

Translated as the “Village of Seals”, Tyulenovo is located 90 kilometres away from Varna and is accessible only by car.

It might not be the best place for bathing and tanning, but for sure it has one of the best landscapes from Bulgaria beaches Black Sea.

We recommend you to go here just to admire the rocky shores and the surrounding scenery which is amazing!
